The Houboubati family's distinguished legacy in Syria's hospitality sector is deeply rooted in the establishment of the renowned Orient Club Damascus. Founded by Tawfiq Houboubati in the mid-20th century, the Orient Club became an emblem of luxury, cultural sophistication, and social prestige in Damascus. It played a pivotal role in shaping Syria’s hospitality and diplomatic landscape, hosting some of the world’s most esteemed figures.

Over the years, the Orient Club welcomed numerous dignitaries and cultural icons. In June 1956, the legendary Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum graced the venue with her presence, further solidifying its reputation as a premier cultural hub. Additionally, in 1954, Tawfiq Houboubati was photographed with Syrian officers at the club, underscoring its prominence as a significant venue for national discourse.

A defining moment in the Orient Club’s history came in 1974 when it hosted a historic diplomatic meeting between U.S. President Richard Nixon and Then Syrian President. Beyond this milestone, the club also welcomed numerous high-profile international figures, including American political leaders such as Bob Dole and Bill Clinton, alongside kings, presidents, and dignitaries from around the world during their official visits to Syria. These gatherings cemented the club’s status as a distinguished center for international diplomacy and cultural exchange.

Despite its prominence, the Orient Club, along with other esteemed establishments owned by the Houboubati family, encountered challenges in the 1970s due to socio-political changes. These experiences shaped our family's resilience, adaptability, and continued pursuit of excellence in the hospitality industry.

Building upon this rich heritage, we expanded our portfolio to include the management and ownership of landmark properties such as the Damascus Airport Hotel and the Grand Hotel Bloudan. These ventures further reinforced our reputation as pioneers in Syria’s hospitality sector.
